Introducing Sappington's Makerspace

Sappington Elementary is excited to announce that we have been awarded a $72,600 grant from the Innovative Technology Education Fund (ITEF). This St. Louis, Missouri based, charitable, nonprofit, private 501 (c)(3) foundation supports innovation in education by funding advanced technology in the classrooms of public, private and parochial schools.

We will be using these funds to design a Makerspace for our students. With this grant, our goal is to transform our library into a learning space where students can collaborate, have choice, and create amazing projects. The fundamental shift in our understanding of teaching and learning is transforming all aspects of our school. As a growing elementary (K-5) school of over 650 students, we plan to add an additional Makerspace rotation (library learning time) to our art, music, and PE schedule.
